Porsche 911 TURBO Additional Information
The 996 variation of the 911 was introduced in late 1997. It’s controversial appearance namely the redesigned front end including the so-called ‘Fried Egg’ headlamps created a mixed response this coupled with the fact it was the first ever water called 911's always left it a little unappreciated.
As a consequence, values had been, until very recently, behind what you do you would have expected from a such an iconic mark. However right from the start had been hailed as possibly the best handling 911 produce. The low values for a pre-owned vehicle allowed the class to perhaps fall into the wrong hands in a lot of cases.
In the last few years, the fortunes of this prodigal son have started to be revived, the less well looked after example have left a relatively low number of exceptional cars available to the market. This dearth of good cars has seen a steady rise in values in the past few years with the more unusual models such as a GT3,Carrera 4S, and of course the ultimate aspirational, the Turbo.
The 996 turbo values have always been ahead of the game, but the relatively low prices and the overall day-to-day driveability have meant that a higher proportion of the 996 Turbo racked up higher mileages in relation to the previous incarnations which could not be described as ‘daily drivers’
Our 18,000 mile 996 turbo coupe Tiptronic with a fantastically primarily full Porsche service history epitomises the notion of perfectly kept Porsche, used but not to be Cossetted, after all Porsche should be used. The marrying of an automatic gearbox to a Turbo aspirated engine is undoubtedly the best combination, no worrying about finding the right Revs for optimum boost. The Porsche Tiptronic, particularly in the 996, has been the basis of the day-to-day 911 since the early 1990s, the ultimate incarnation being fitted to the 996 turbo. It transforms the car into a Jekyll and Hyde, docile mile eating grand Tourer or become, by slipping across the manual, the portion that demands to be driven. As mentioned above attrition over the years has resulted in low number of genuine collectible cars prices are on the rise currently and appreciation for the 996 is growing rapidly
